I decided to use the colour grey to represent the ash and darkness that comes from an explosion.  The layout also represents exploding as it starts with my origional model in the centre and explodes outwards in this star like shape (relating to my precedent image) and coming to points at the ends.

I think this model represents my words the best as it starts smaller in the centre and seems to explode outwards and seperate, coming to these points at the ends.  The form is also abstract as it is difficult to understand, is unique and is not applied or practical.  The colour of it also represent the orange colour of an explosion and the grey background represents the ash that comes from an explosion.

Render trials

My first idea was to look back at my precedent image, which was blue with patterns, created from looking through the windows, and to render my final image in this way.  But I decided that the blue colour didn't relate to my three words, even though it related to my precedent image.

Another idea was to make it a grey, grainy texture to represent the ash and harshness from an explosion (relating to my word exploding).  But I decided a better way to represent the word exploding was to make it orange/red and more full of life.

Development

Some iteration developments 
After doing a few iterations I realised that only using straight lines, points and no curves, was too restricting.  So I started using curves but still making sure that each iteration had points in it.

The left image is the shape I drew in SolidWorks from my precedent image.  The right image is how I made it 3d, using a hexagon and keeping with using points and straight lines.

3 words

Abstract: Difficult to understand.  Unique. Not applied or practical.

Point: A sharp or tapered end.

Exploding: To burst violently from the inside out, without control.

These three words represent my precedent image because the image seems to explode out from the centre, making abstract shapes and coming to points.  There are no curves, only straight lines and angles that lead to points and its not often that you'd look up in a building and see this, making it unique and abstract.

This image is my main inspiration.  I chose it because I find the shape that the light makes really interesting and would translate well into a 3d model.
